GIS stands for Geographic Information System, we maintain links between the Yuma County Assessor database and county mapping information. Our services are for use by county departments and by the public. We also provide services related to large format black & white scanning and large format color and black & white printing. Richard Birnie has been the Yuma County GIS Mapping Coordinator since 2008 and as a Landscape Architect registered with the State of Colorado brings an interesting slant to the GIS office.

The GIS program we use is AutoDesk Map3D and from this program we create shapefiles that can be imported into other GIS programs. In the files we have county, state and federal roads, railroads, ownership parcels, subdivisions, cities, towns and unincorporated communities. The maps are updated on a weekly basis.

The cost of the GIS shapefiles is as follows: there are 70 townships within Yuma County and each township costs $20.00 if purchased separately, $10.00 each if the entire county is purchased at one time. Checks should be made out to "Yuma County Treasurer" and sent to the above address or call the Yuma County Treasurer at (970) 332-4965 to pay with a major credit card.

We have the following paper maps available for purchase from the Assessor’s Office or we can ship them to you:
THE BIG THREE in 18" x 27" format includes the Yuma County Road Map, Yuma County Irrigated Area Map and Yuma County Gas Well and Facility Location Map. These maps cost $5.00 each, plus shipping.

THE SUNDAY AFTERNOON DRIVE SERIES in 24" X 36" format includes the Yuma County Colorado Map of Place Names and Yuma County Colorado Map of Cemeteries, suitable for framing or throwing in your glove compartment. These maps cost $6.00 each, plus shipping.

We also have a wildly popular map depicting the evolution of counties in the State of Colorado. This map is 17” x 33” and costs $6.00, plus shipping.
